How We Used the CDAP Grant to Improve Our SEO
With the CDAP grant in hand, we focused on multiple SEO aspects of our website.
Our goal was to ensure that the site was optimized for search engines and provided a seamless experience for users. Here are the main areas we worked on:
- Optimizing Website Copy with Relevant Keywords We conducted extensive keyword research to ensure our website’s copy was aligned with what our target audience was searching for. By incorporating relevant keywords throughout the site, we improved our chances of ranking higher in search results. This also ensured that our content was speaking directly to the needs of potential clients.
-
Adding Meta Descriptions to All Pages Each page of our website now has a tailored meta description, improving the likelihood that users will click on our links when they appear in search results. Meta descriptions not only help search engines understand the content but also enhance the user experience by offering a clear summary of what each page offers. -
Fixing Internal Linking We optimized our internal linking structure, ensuring that related pages were properly linked together. This not only makes it easier for users to navigate the site, but it also allows search engines to crawl and index our site more efficiently. By fixing internal links, we also boosted the relevance and authority of key pages. -
Adding Alt Text to Images One often overlooked aspect of SEO is image optimization. With the help of the CDAP grant, we were able to add descriptive alt text to all the images on our website. This not only makes our site more accessible but also helps search engines understand what our images represent, improving the overall SEO of our site. -
Optimizing Image Files Large image files can slow down a website, negatively impacting both user experience and SEO. We made sure all images on our site were compressed and optimized without compromising quality, resulting in faster page load times and improved rankings in search engines. -
Removing Orphan Pages During our SEO audit, we identified some orphan pages—pages that were not linked to from any other pages on our site. These pages were either removed or properly linked to improve site navigation and reduce confusion for both users and search engines. -
Website Translation Before receiving the CDAP grant, our website was available only in English. Thanks to the funding, we were able to begin translating our site into both French and Spanish, significantly expanding our reach. With bilingual content, we are now better positioned to connect with French-speaking clients in Quebec and Spanish-speaking audiences across North and Latin America.
