Mark3ting SEO Case Study: How We Improved Our Website Score from 64 to a perfect 100 At Mark3ting, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional digital marketing services. One of our recent achievements is improving our website’s Health Score from 64 to a perfect 100 using Ahrefs. Here’s how we did it and how you can too. Understanding the Health Score The Health Score in Ahrefs reflects the proportion of internal URLs on your site that don’t have errors. The bar chart shows Health Score changes over the surrounding crawls, providing a clear visual representation of your site’s health over time. A higher score indicates fewer errors, contributing to better website performance and search engine rankings. Common Errors and Fixes To improve our Health Score, we fixed 404 errors by updating broken links, implemented canonical tags to avoid duplicate content issues, and updated internal links to HTTPS. Orphan pages were linked from other relevant pages, and large image files were converted to WebP format. We also fixed or removed broken JavaScript files to ensure smooth functionality. Methodology: How We Fixed 404 Errors, Orphan Pages and Image Files 404 Errors: After identifying any such pages, we created 301 redirect rules using the Yoast plugin. This ensures that when a user hits a 404 page, they are redirected to a new link that is functional and relevant. It’s crucial to choose redirect links that make sense contextually to maintain a good user experience. Orphan Pages: Orphan pages are pages with no incoming links and thus hard to find as they are not included in menus or site navigation. If the orphan page had relevant content, we looked for other pages with similar topics and added internal links to the orphan page. This helps in integrating the orphan pages into the website structure and makes them more accessible to users and search engines. Image Files: We optimized images by converting PNG files to WebP format, significantly reducing their size without compromising on quality. Additionally, we added alt text to relevant images. Alt text is important for SEO as it provides context to search engines about the image content, improving accessibility and potentially contributing to better search rankings. Continuous Effort SEO is not a one-time task but a continuous effort. Regularly monitoring your website’s health and addressing any issues promptly is crucial. At Mark3ting, we use tools like Ahrefs to keep our site in top shape, ensuring optimal performance and higher search engine rankings.
